Usibelli Coal Mine Inc. (UCM), founded in 1943 by Emil Usibelli, is located in the Alaska Range near Healy, Alaska, approximately 115 miles south of Fairbanks. As the only operational coal mine in Alaska, UCM has grown its production from 10,000 tons in its inaugural year to an average of 1.2 to 2 million tons annually, supplying coal to six power plants in Interior Alaska and exporting to various Pacific Rim destinations.

Supported by modern mining equipment and state-of-the-art engineering, UCM employs around 115 individuals year-round. The company actively engages with the community through sponsorship of events and activities, and it funds numerous scholarships and grants via The Usibelli Foundation, benefiting over 80 organizations each year.
