Nome Preschool

Nome Preschool Association, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that has been providing a quality introduction to the school experience for Nome children since 1970. With community support, they moved into their current building in 1988 and received an award from the Alaska Department of Education in 1990 for outstanding accomplishments in early childhood education. They offer a state-certified program and have a mission to nurture the development of early learning through play, education, and social interaction.

The preschool focuses on various skill areas such as social-emotional development, self-help skills, language development, gross and fine motor skills, pre-academic readiness, and music, art, and story experiences. They aim to create a positive first school experience for children and encourage a love for learning. The program is supported by funds from the City of Nome, parent fees, fundraising, and donations, and parents are expected to participate in fundraising events to keep program fees affordable.
