Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility

Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility is one of the largest water and wastewater utilities in Alaska that collects water from several surface watersheds and deep underground wells. It maintains more than 52,000 water customer accounts for over 215,000 residents. The organization also holds nearly 50,500 industrial, commercial and military accounts. It operates water treatment plants, testing laboratories, reservoirs, and water and sewer pipelines. Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utility conducts various community awareness, training and continuing education certification programs. It employs approximately 250 staff members, including treatment plant operators, engineers, laboratory technicians, maintenance craftsmen, accountants, customer service representatives and computer specialists. The company has received the Gold Award for significant accomplishments in competitiveness achievement by the Association of Metropolitan Water Agencies.
