One of the oldest family hotspots on the Gulf Coast, the Original Oyster House is a must-go-to restaurant for fresh Gulf seafood, Southern hospitality and panoramic waterfront views. A top-spot for hand-shucked, baked and fire-grilled oysters, this restaurant became legendary for its homemade seafood gumbo, cheesy grits with blackened shrimp, whole flounder, Mahi Down on Da Bayou as well as handcrafted cocktails and desserts including its world famous Peanut Butter Pie. For over 37 years, the Original Oyster House has supported charitable organizations, military, area schools, athletic programs, churches scholarship programs as well as first responders. In 2016, it became the first restaurant in the state to recycle oyster shells through the Alabama Coastal Foundation and the only restaurant to grow stocker oysters for reef restoration.
