Founded in 1950 as Residential and Commercial Contractors by Robert H. Hollis, Jr. of Montgomery, Alabama and Jerome A. Spann of Dothan, Alabama, the company operated as a partnership on South Alice Street in Dothan until the death of Spann in 1965. Hollis then purchased the Spann interest and operated as Robert H. Hollis, Jr. dba Hollis & Spann, until the company incorporated under the laws of the State of Alabama in 1968. Hollis retained the Spann name in honor of the co-founder. In 1987, Hollis & Spann, Inc underwent a change of administration. Robert Hayne Hollis, III became President of the Company, continuing a tradition of strong, progressive leadership.
