Nes Ironworks Museum
Nes Ironworks Museum is located in the Southern Norway, outside the city of Tvedestrand. The old ironwork was established in 1665 and is the only one left in Norway where most of the production buildings and equipment are preserved. Guided tours start every hour between 11am-4pm in the summer season. The museum exhibits the original blast furnace and the forge, and an historical exhibition in the mechanical workshop. The museum gives a unique opportunity to see how an ironworks was structured and run, how people lived and worked there, and how iron and steel were produced. During the summer season visitors receive a guided tour inside the production facilities explaining how the ironwork was run and a demonstration of the reconstructed bellows. In addition to regular tours, the ironworks has many events and activities during the season. The museum is located near the river Storelva (Bigriver) where a lovely park and golf course allows for great nature experiences and photo opportunity
