Cavewalk In Trollkirka

Come and join an exciting and spectacular cave experience at Trollkirka on Evenes. The cave is a 20-minute walk from the car park. Trollkirka (also spelled Trollkjerka) is a cave in Evenes municipality in Nordland. It has a mapped length of 2,031 meters and an estimated additional 4,000 meters total length. The cave is located in the forest between the two lakes Lavangsvatnet in the east and Annfinnvatnet in the west, around 2.5 kilometers north of the village of Tårstad. The river from Arnfinnvannet flows into the cave after about 500 metres. Where this water eventually flows out is not yet known. The cave should only be visited with knowledgeable guides. After 20 minutes of walking you reach the opening to the cave. Here, all guests will receive the necessary safety equipment and instructions before we start the rappel down into the cave. This will be done in a safe manner and in several processes. On the way down you will hear the story of the cave. Suddenly you will find yourself in the church and the sacristy. This room inside the mountain is 15 meters from floor to ceiling and can accommodate as many as 100 people. Here we will make troll coffee and troll tea made from the tap water from the natural spring inside the mountain. We will eat snacks and then turn off the headlamps to experience complete darkness. The guide will tell stories about what has been found down in the cave such as the remains of bears, fish and people who were here during the Ice Age. The guests will then have the chance to try the tunnels that lead from the church deeper into the mountain. V then follows a river so that we find our way out towards Trollfossen. Here we will see a fantastic sight when the light guides us out towards the opening of the mountain.
