The Hotel Restaurant Zeezicht is situated at the old inland area in Harlingen just across from the Ferry point where the boats to Vlieland and Terschelling depart. The hotel has the inland and the sea at one side and on the other side, it is situated beside the historical Elfsteden (11 cities) town of Harlingen. Harlingen is an old city of commerce that did very well during the golden age. This is noticeable by the number of beautiful old homes to be found within the city. Since June 2009, the Wadden Sea became an UNESCO World Heritage Site and is equated with famous nature reserves such as Yellowstone Park in the United States and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. On the roof of the Hotel Restaurant Zeezicht are solar panels thus all the electricity used in our business comes from a natural source so we try to contribute to the environment as much as possible. Hotel Zeezicht was opened in 1905 and served as a guesthouse for the many ships’ crews that passed through Harlingen Haven. In 1983 the Hotel Zeezicht and Restaurant expanded by joining with the adjacent monumental building “The Sea Castle” of Harlingen. The “Sea Castle” has a long history in Harlingen and played an important role in the development of the city. During the golden age a notable society club called “Seeburgh” was established at “The Sea Castle”. “The Sea Castle” was only accessible to dignitaries and was inspected by a strict high commission. The society discussed important decisions concerning Harlingen. Nowadays, everyone is welcome at “Hotel Restaurant Zeezicht.”
