Urban Green Newcastle was established on 1st April 2019 as a charitable trust focused on the maintenance and management of public greenspaces in Newcastle upon Tyne. Over its operational years, it took on the significant challenge of reversing the decline in local parks and allotments, successfully securing millions in funding and engaging hundreds of volunteers.

Despite its achievements in championing biodiversity and promoting community well-being, the charity closed on 28th February 2025, with the management of greenspaces transferred back to Newcastle City Council.
