Nutsford House Bed and Breakfast

A peaceful bed and breakfast nestled in a quiet valley on the southern edge of Exmoor, close to Dulverton. Built in the 1920s, Nutsford House has been lovingly restored to combine its original grandeur with 21st century convenience. It stands on high ground overlooking The Brockey Valley in its 10 acres of landscaped gardens and private woodland, tucked in amongst trees and babbling streams, with the wilds of Exmoor rising above it. We have two newly refurbished rooms. Both are south-facing with lovely original features providing views over the gardens and the valley below. The Siskin Room can be configured either with twin single beds or a Super King Double. The Chapman Room is a double. Both have private bathrooms with powerful thermostatic showers, and complimentary toiletries and dressing gowns (the Chapman Room also has a bath). There are tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms and complimentary wifi. Guests have access to a private garden, the dining room and the cosy library with its log burner. There will also be complimentary tea and scones on arrival. There is a 25% price reduction if only one person uses the room and you can contact us to arrange this. For breakfast we offer a Nutsford House full English breakfast, the vegetarian or vegan version, or a choice of lighter dishes. We aim to cater for all tastes. We grow or locally source as much of the menu as possible. Eggs are courtesy of our rescue chickens, the toast and porridge is made on the Aga and the coffee is bottomless. The woods and gardens at Nutsford House are a haven for nature and for wildlife. Visitors are welcome to wander through them and you’re more likely to see a red deer or a great spotted woodpecker than you are another person. And, while it really feels like you’re in the middle of nowhere, in reality you’re just a short walk across the fields (or an even shorter drive) to Dulverton, the southern Gateway to Exmoor, where you’ll find shops, restaurants, pubs and the National Park Centre. Whether you’re a walker, a fisherman or a cyclist, you have the rest of Exmoor National Park literally on your doorstep.
