Ripon, England HG4 3DE

Hackfall Wood, located at the Masham end of Grewelthorpe in North Yorkshire, is a beautifully restored landscape that reflects both natural beauty and historical artistry, shaped significantly by the Aislabies in the 18th century. Once a popular Victorian attraction, it features remarkable follies, grottoes, and a stunning fountain, inviting visitors to explore its unique terrain.

Following years of decline and damage, Hackfall Wood has undergone significant restoration since the 1980s, thanks to the efforts of the Woodland Trust and Hackfall Trust, culminating in a major project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2007. Now a Grade 1 listed garden, it offers free access for visitors to enjoy its picturesque paths and vistas once again.
