Sole Food Street Farms, established in 2009, has successfully transformed vacant urban land into productive agricultural spaces, emerging as one of North America's largest urban farm social enterprises. They produce hyperlocal produce for public sale and donation to community partners while providing training and employment opportunities to residents of Vancouver and the Downtown Eastside, particularly those facing barriers to traditional employment.
The initiative promotes not only agricultural sustainability but also community healing, offering individuals a chance to work with living soil, grow fresh food, and develop new skills in a supportive environment.
