Casa de les Punxes

Was designed by Josep Puig I Cadafalch between 1903 and 1905 (a catalan artchitect who highly influenced the Catalan modernism movement), it is located in the district of Eixample in Barcelona, a popular area know as “Quadrat d’Or”. Nowadays it is one of the most emblematic buildings in Barcelona. It is the only Modernista detached house, built in the form of an old medieval castle and its 6 sharp-pointed towers that crown the building gave it the popular name of “Casa de les Punxes” (house of spikes). In 1975 it was declared Historical National Monument.
