Teslin School

Teslin Community School serves the Inland Tlingit community of Teslin, situated on the shores of Teslin Lake in southern Yukon. Established in the mid-19th century by Coastal Tlingit traders, the village gained permanence during the 1940s with the construction of the Alaska Highway, continuing to preserve its rich cultural heritage and traditions.

The school follows a progressive grading system for Grades 1 through 9, focusing on student development through assessments rather than traditional letter grades. In alignment with community values, the Teslin Tlingit Council actively works to blend contemporary self-sufficiency efforts with the preservation of language, culture, and traditional governance for future generations.
